Dali, equipped with a quartz clockwork
The famous picture, "Persistence of Memory", from Salvador Dali, and the theme of the melting pocket watches was one of my inspirations. I was able to discover the theme from a different perspective, in the form of symbolism. Due to the concept and arrangement of the segments, the sculpture is a real eye-catcher. The melting pocket watch symbolizes the insignificance of time. The snail portrays a human head. The egg is a symbol for new life. "I wanted to create not just a monotonous work of art, but present an object which comes alive - in the form of mechanics. For this reason, I have integrated a functioning clock, and by doing so, I have turned the sculpture into an exceptional work of art."
Interpretations of Surrealism: Surrealism in Philosophy is based on the belief of an ideal reality, which stems from certain forms of previously unconsidered associations which occur in dreams and in play of thought. It destroys all other psychic mechanisms, and is a substitute to solving all the main problems of life. Surrealism, as stated in the dictionary, is pure psychic automatism, by which one wishes to express, either verbally, in writing, or by any other manner, the real functioning of thought. These thoughts are exercised without considering reason, aesthetics and morality.
